Donating to charity is a great way to get rid of things that you no longer want or need. The goal is to get rid of those things that, as famous tidying-up author and Netflix star Marie Kondo would say, don’t “spark joy” in your life, as opposed to just lugging them with you and overloading your garage and storage unit.
To help make your life even easier, we’ve compiled the list below of organizations that accept donations. Get to organizing, clean out your storage, and find out just how easy it is to give new life to your unwanted items.
Donate Clothing, Appliances, Furniture, and Household Items
- ReStore Saskatoon – Accepts appliances, furniture, and household items
- YWCA Saskatoon – Check for the Current Needs
- Salvation Army – Accepts gently used clothing, textiles and household items
- Village Green – Donations of furniture, appliances and housewares
- Lighthouse – Check for the Current Needs
- Community Living – Clothing, shoes, linens, and other soft items
*Before dropping off items for donation get in touch with the locations. Due to the COVID-19 Pandemic, some locations may not be accepting in-person donations or drop-offs at their offices.
Once you’ve sorted out your things and got rid of anything you no longer want, like, or need (decluttering your home is key), you may still be left with too many items that you can’t possibly fit. That’s especially true when you’re downsizing, in the middle of a renovation project, you may be moving temporarily to another place to work or study, including abroad, or you may be merging all the stuff from two households.
